Many, if not most, liberals (including those who consider themselves progressive) advocate market fundamentalism (neoliberalism).

“Democratic” socialists have long been colonized by neoliberals and put socialism in the garbage bin.

Classical liberalism gave way to libfascism under the pretext of defending market freedom (financialization of the economy, rentier financial capitalism), the imperative of freeing the economy from the yoke of the State, imposing political austerity on ordinary citizens, and paving the way for fascism.

The liberal bourgeois class is perfectly aware that its private interests and privileges are better protected under a fascist regime than under socialism or ecosocialism, which is what we need for a real and fair transition to a social and ecological political economy.

This was the second time I posted the following comment, and it has already been deleted.
It happens with some frequency.

We must be bold and call things by name: we live in the CAPITALOCENE ERA.

Carbon dioxide emissions from oil combustion worldwide from 1960 to 2022

The USA (3% of the world's population), the epitome of capitalism, has produced more CO2 and consumed far more fossil fuels than any other country for decades.

Why do we buy things we don't need, with money we don't have, to impress people we don't like? Is it due to the motivation of profit and capital accumulation or to some congenital defect of the human species?

Can these behaviors be related to a pathological system called capitalism that generates artificial dependencies and commodifies everything?

The concept of the Anthropocene is misleading because what makes humanity a geological force capable of literally moving mountains is the capitalist system (industrial, financial, rentier)

By the way, the word work derives from the word Tripalium or trepalium (instrument of torture).

Capitalism desensitizes human beings. To earn a living, we learn to fulfill duties, perform tasks, and play roles without feeling responsible for their consequences.

By refusing to label the current epoch Capitalocene, we are doing a favor to neo-Malthusian fanaticism that wants population reduction by any means.

Furthermore, by avoiding confrontation with capitalism, the force behind the destruction caused to the planet will ultimately lead us to a transhumanist techno-fascist dystopia.

We live in the Capitalocene Era, 500 years of capitalism in the web of life, creating artificial scarcity, enclosing the commons, and exploiting natural resources for profit and wealth accumulation. The development of industrial capitalism instigated the consumption of superfluous goods to continue generating profits.

Rentist financial capitalism (financialization of the economy) with the supremacy of the FIRE sector is yet another leap forward in the Capitalocene Era with the financialization of the ecosystem services.

Finally, the commodification of literally everything, including life, the dependence on convenience, and technofixism demonstrates the power of capital in the web of life.
